Made with Code
We inspired young girls across America to experience code for the first time by letting them put their own digital spin on the national trees at the White House. Today, less than 1% of girls study Computer Science. Made with Code is an initiative from Google to inspire more girls to learn how to code. For the holiday season, we partnered with the White House and the National Parks Service to create 56 digitized holiday trees that girls across the country could bring to life through code.
The project debuted at the 92nd annual National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, which was livestreamed by the White House and aired on PBS nationally throughout the holidays.
As seen on:
PBS TV Spot
Prior to the live broadcast of the National Tree Lighting Ceremony on PBS, we aired short promos to encourage young girls across the country to visit our site and create their own digital tree.
The Website
A dedicated website where young girls can learn the fundamentals of coding and computer science. Girls could control the lights, colors, and patterns of the holiday trees, all through the power of code. Once finished, they could submit their creation to the White House and see it come to life.
Real Time Billboard
To bring more attention to the project, we used the largest digital billboard in Times Square to showcase all the beautiful trees were created across the country.
