Drone Pioneers

Climate research is one of the most under funded fields of study. If we want to get ahead of climate change, scientists need the best tools they can get before it's too late. We partnered with scientists around the world and gave them an industrial grade drone, the Intel Falcon 8+, to reimagine how they conduct their research. With this heavy duty drone, they were able to collect data faster, more effectively, and from a safe distance.

Polar Bear Research

Svalbard, the front lines of climate change and the home of the polar bears. Rapidly changing environments make this terrain more challenging for researchers than ever before. The Intel Falcon 8+ drone was designed to battle extreme conditions and capture thermal data and photography for commercial use. Our drone team applied these same features to test a new way of studying polar bears in the arctic.

Great Wall Reconstruction

Crossing 15 provinces, 404 counties, 20000 kilometers, the Great Wall is an iconic world wonder. Sadly, it has suffered natural erosion and human destruction over the past 2000 years. In collaboration with our PRC partners and a team of experts, Intel is using artificial intelligence and drone technology to survey and model the remote Jiankou section of the wall to preserve this historical landmark for generations to come.

Ocean and Whale Research (aka "SnotBot")

Every second breath we take comes from the ocean. Today, our oceans and marine life face greater dangers than ever before. To protect them, we need to understand what’s threatening their ecosystem. This is why we collaborated with Parley for the Oceans and a team of marine biologists on a mission to use artificial intelligence and drones to collect data from the ocean’s most important mammal: the whale.
